I want you to be as comfortable as possible and feel like you can ask me anything. However, to save a bit of time and ensure
you feel as prepared as possible for your session, I’ve compiled a little FAQ page to answer the most common questions.
What shall I bring to wear?
Generally, I advise bringing plenty of top changes which we can look at together when you arrive. Browse the Gallery page, and take a look at what other actors are wearing through their shoots to see what might work for you. Clean, contemporary lines for the men (eg. vee-tee, slim-fit shirt/jumper/t-shirt, blazer, jackets), and low necks and neckline variations for the women are always good options - but be unafraid of bolder choices - patterns, colours, striking tops. Vest tops, t-shirts, scoop necklines - they rarely shoot quite as sexy as you'd hope :) Structures shirts in feminine fabrics, blazers, patterns, colours that stray away from block colours can be surprisingly effective.
Keep the look as contemporary as possible and consider dressing for your age and casting type/possibilities...but don't make the mistake of shooting 'costume' options. Change of tops will be useful to build a variety of images, but ultimately your main Spotlight headshot will show you at your best – not your clothing choices.
What kind of hair/make-up shall I have?
I have styled most of the actors in the Gallery and can offer styling and/or hair/makeup advice if requested. As a general guide, if you are unsure try not to over-groom. Straightened hair on girls can look dated in a headshot (unless the hair is short and/or has a sculpted cut), so try and keep the hair loose and natural. We're talking salt spray, tousled, easy-going hair.
Heavy eye makeup or lip gloss can also date your picture and change your casting age-range. If in doubt, work a natural look and gently emphasize either the eyes or the lips, but not both. Soft lines around the eyes generally work for younger skins instead of liquid eyeliners, and a good face base is imperative. Keep mascara from clumping, and take your time applying any darker colours
